A MINI convoy across the bay in Blackpool

Wednesday, March 28, 2007, 269 MINI have illuminated Blackpool (UK) and have established a new record by Guinness for the longest MINI convoy in the world. The owners have also arrived from cities far away as Croydon and Cardiff to participate in the historic parade two miles long and to help collect
funds for "Comic Relief".

Regulations official Guinness for a parade stipulate that all cars must complete a path to the minimum distance of two miles in a row without interruption and with less than ten meters between a car and another, ending with the passage of a goal.

The record was previously held by MINI Club of Vancouver, obtained in 2004 when they were involved 195 new MINI ed'epoca.

The parade was organised by the concessionaire MINI Derek Woodman. James Rashid, brand manager at the dealership, commented: "This year we wanted to do something for Comic Relief and the 'longest convoy of MINI ever seen' seemed to fit the theme 'The Big One'. We would never have imagined that it would become so big! I cordially congratulate with my team to be successful and I thank all MINI owners for having made possible. "
