From the spring of 2008, Mercedes-Benz will complete the range of Class C limousine with three new eficienti models BlueEFFICIENCY particularly in terms of consumption and emissions.
Thanks to a series of targeted technical on the model C 180 KOMPRESSOR and C 200 CDI consumption were reduced by 12%, maintaining the same comfort and safety of travel. In the version BlueEFFICIENCY, the engine from 100 kW/136 hp C 200 CDI consumes only 5.1 liters per 100 kilometers, while C 180 KOMPRESSOR (115 kW/156 hp) travels the same distance with 6.5 litres of fuel. These figures are respectively 135 and 156 grams of CO2 per kilometre. As the third model Class C BlueEFFICIENCY, Mercedes-Benz C 350 presents CGI direct-injection gasoline. The six-cylinder CGI consumes about 10% less fuel compared with the V6 engine.
For new models BlueEFFICIENCY, Mercedes engineers have grasped the potential offered by the various development sectors to further reduce weight, aerodynamic drag and rolling, and manage a more efficient energy of the car. All these arrangements made it possible to obtain in the new round of European march savings of 0.9 liters per 100 kilometers for C 180 KOMPRESSOR and 0.6 liters for C 200 CDI.
Even the construction of light Class C has been further refined to the smallest detail by the experts Sindelfingen, removing a total, according to the model, between 19 and 32 kilogrammes. At this result contributes, for example, the windscreen of new concept in laminated glass, lighter by about 1.2 kilograms compared to traditional. Mercedes-Benz offre su Classe C una nuova generazione di trazione integrale 4MATIC che, rispetto alla precedente, si caratterizza per rendimento più elevato, minor peso e struttura più compatta.
Questi vantaggi si traducono in una capacità di trazione superiore ed una riduzione dei consumi fino a 0,5 litri per 100 chilometri. Tutti i modelli 4MATIC sono equipaggiati con un cambio automatico a sette marce di serie.
La nuova trazione integrale permanente Mercedes-Benz 4MATIC si caratterizza per essere sempre attiva, non presenta quindi tempi di reazione e rende ancora più sicuro il comportamento della vettura in situazioni di marcia insidiose quali pioggia, ghiaccio e neve. Il cuore del sistema di trazione integrale è costituito da un ripartitore di coppia con differenziale centrale, integrato nel cambio automatico a sette marce, dal quale la coppia viene ripartita fra avantreno e retrotreno con un rapporto di 45:55. Con un sovrappeso di soli 60-70 chilogrammi (in base al modello), la trazione integrale permanente sviluppata da Mercedes-Benz è in assoluto la più leggera.
Grazie ad una frizione a lamelle di nuova concezione sul differenziale centrale, la potenza del motore viene trasmessa alle ruote anteriori e posteriori con un effetto bloccante di 50 Nm, consentendo alla nuova Classe C un maggiore spunto su fondo stradale sdrucciolevole e di ottenere una stabilità di marcia ulteriormente incrementata rispetto ai precedenti modelli 4MATIC.
Mercedes-Benz abbina la trazione integrale permanente di serie all’Electronic Stability Program (ESP¨) ed al sistema di controllo della trazione 4ETS, un dispositivo che frena le ruote soggette a slittamento ed aumenta la coppia sulle ruote con una maggiore aderenza. Gli impulsi frenanti automatici, che migliorano la trazione su terreni a basso attrito ed incrementano la stabilità del veicolo nelle manovre più difficili, vengono dosati dal sistema sulla base di segnali inviati da specifici sensori. Il 4ETS ha la stessa efficacia dei tradizionali bloccaggi al differenziale, offrendo al tempo stesso un comfort nettamente migliore rispetto ad altre vetture a trazione integrale.
